USNS Josiah Willard Gibbs (T-AGOR-1)
Underbody aft showing the auxiliary propeller added during her
conversion to a research ship.
This propeller, which in this view is trained partially to port,
enabled the ship to maneuver precisely at speeds from dead slow
to four knots. Note the wrench in use on the starboard main propeller
and the work underway on the starboard shaft bearing.
