Itty E (American Motor Boat, 1916)
In port, alongside a pontoon float, probably while being prepared
for Navy service, circa May-July 1917.
This open cockpit motor pleasure craft, evaluated as "Excellent
as rescue boat or tender to the air-plane at Naval Air Station"
was placed in commission as USS Itty E (SP-952) on 6 July
1917. She was damaged by fire in July 1918 and scrapped in 1920.
USS Machigonne (SP-507), which was placed in commission
on 9 July 1917, is partially visible on the other side of the
pier.
