(American Motor Boat, 1914)

Postal card featuring a view of the boat underway in a Great Lakes port prior to World War I. Photographed by Gallagher, the original card advertises sightseeing cruises on the St. Louis River, with Captain Dick Schell as point of contact.
This fast (18 miles per hour) open cockpit type pleasure boat was acquired by the Navy on 7 August 1917 and placed in commission as USS Welcome (SP-1175) on 17 August. She was returned to her owner on 7 March 1919.
