USS Sagua
(ID # 1627)

In port on a snowy day, circa winter 1918-1919.
Built in England in 1914, the steamship Sagua was leased by the Navy on 9 August and placed in commission on 12 August 1918. She was turned over to the United States Shipping Board on 19 May 1919 for return to her owner.
Note: The original photograph was labeled as USS Tanamo (ID-1627), which had the same builder as Sagua. However, the latter name can be read on the name board on the face of the ship's bridge.
Barge Lehigh Valley 500 is in the foreground.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
