In port, possibly when inspected by the Fifth Naval District on 4 April 1918.
Built by Furness, Withy & Company at West Hartlepool, England, in 1907, this steamer was seized by the U.S. Government in March 1918. Turned over to the Navy in that month, she was placed in commission as USS Celebes (ID # 2680) on 6 April 1918 and was returned to her owners on 2 May 1919.
