USS Seattle
(Armored Cruiser # 11, ex-Washington)

Halftone reproduction of a photograph looking over the ship's port superstructure, amidships, while she was coaling from barges alongside on 9 July 1918. It was published in 1919 as one of ten images in a "Souvenir Folder" concerning USS Seattle.
Note coaling booms rigged out over the ship's side, and the long extension on her boat crane, fitted to assist in aircraft handling when the ship was equipped with a catapult in 1917.
