USS Bennington (Gunboat # 4)

Partially dismantled in dry dock at the Mare Island Navy Yard, California, either during her 1901-1903 overhaul or while being stripped following her 21 July 1905 boiler explosion.
This color-tinted photograph is printed on a postcard published during the first decade of the Twentieth Century by Frank J. Stumm, Benicia, California. Mailed to Mrs. C.W. Baker of Orange County, California, it was postmarked at San Francisco, California, on 23 April 1910.
