Painted in pattern camouflage, circa 1918 or early 1919.
The original print carried the following hand-written inscription:
"This is the picture I promised to send, Louise. Sorry the colors don't show. Of course the black shows up."
"The other picture, I think you have in a smaller size." (see Photo # NH 106682 for this "other picture".)
"By the way, we who have had enough service in, have to wear a little V shaped gold braid chevron -- to distinguish from those in training camps etc."
