Boy Scout (American Motor Boat, 1916).
Became USS Boy Scout (SP-53) in 1917

Boy Scout, a 45-foot motor boat, was built by Britt Brothers at Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1916 as a high-speed (20-knots, plus) pleasure craft. In May 1917 she was ordered delivered to the Navy and subsequently served as USS Boy Scout (SP-53), initially in New England waters. Later, she was sent overseas for "aviation service". No further record has been found on her, but she was probably disposed of in the year following the end of World War I.

This page features our only view of the motor boat Boy Scout, which became USS Boy Scout (SP-53) in 1917.
