C.F. Sargent (Schooner Barge, 1874);
Was USS C.F. Sargent (ID # 3027) in 1917-1918

C.F. Sargent, a 1689-gross-ton wooden schooner barge, was built in 1874 at Yarmouth, Maine. She was acquired by the Navy in October 1917, placed in service as USS C.F. Sargent and employed to transport coal along the East Coast. Later given the registry number 3027, the barge sank at sea on 31 July 1918.

Photographed prior to her World War I Navy service.
This barge was acquired by the Navy on 18 October 1917. Serving as USS C.F. Sargent, she was assigned the registry identification number 3027 on 26 July 1918, and was sunk at sea on 31 July 1918.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
