In 1918 Cometa, a 25-foot motor pleasure boat, was owned by Saul Streiffer of Gulfport, Mississippi. In August of that year she was taken over, under lease, by the Eighth Naval District for use as a tender. Cometa was returned to her owner in early December 1918.
This page features the only view we have concerning the motor boat Cometa, which served in the Navy in 1918.
