Charles P. Crawford, a 171 gross ton harbor tug, was built in 1915 by the Staten Island Shipbuilding Company of New York. She was chartered by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366) in September of that year. She was subsequently employed in the New York City area as a minesweeper and for towing and transportation work. The tug was returned to her owner, the Erie Railroad Company of New York, in August 1919.
This page features the only view we have concerning the harbor tug Charles P. Crawford, which served as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366) in 1917-1919.
