Charles P. Crawford (American Harbor Tug, 1915).
Served as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366) in 1917-1919

Charles P. Crawford, a 171 gross ton harbor tug, was built in 1915 by the Staten Island Shipbuilding Company of New York. She was chartered by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366) in September of that year. She was subsequently employed in the New York City area as a minesweeper and for towing and transportation work. The tug was returned to her owner, the Erie Railroad Company of New York, in August 1919.

This page features the only view we have concerning the harbor tug Charles P. Crawford, which served as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366) in 1917-1919.

Photographed circa 1915-1917.
Built by the Staten Island Shipbuilding Company and owned by the Erie Railroad Company of New York City, this harbor tug was acquired by the Navy on 8 May 1917 and placed in commission on 22 September 1917 as USS Charles P. Crawford (SP-366). She was returned to her owner on 12 August 1919.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
