Charles P. Kuper (American Harbor Tug, 1892).
Previously named C. Offerman.
Served as USS Charles P. Kuper (SP-1235) in 1917-1919

Charles P. Kuper, a 51 gross ton wooden harbor tug, was built in 1892 by Browne of Tottenville, New York. She was chartered by the Navy in August 1917 and subsequently served in the New York Harbor area as USS Charles P. Kuper (SP-1235). The tug was returned to her owner, the Simmons Transportation Company of New York City, in mid-1919.

This page features the only view we have concerning the harbor tug Charles P. Kuper, which served as USS Charles P. Kuper (SP-1235) in 1917-1919.

Photographed circa 1917, possibly after entering Navy service.
Built by Browne of Tottenville, New York, in 1892 and owned by the Simmons Transportation Company of New York City, this tug was chartered by the Navy in 1917 and served as Charles P. Kuper (SP-1235) until returned to her owner in 1919.
