Chase S. Osborn (American Tug, 1906).
Served as USS Chase S. Osborn (SP-1121, later YT-41) in 1918-1921

Chase S. Osborn, a 492-ton steel-hull tug, was built in 1906 at Ferrysburg, Michigan, by Johnson Brothers. She was taken over by the Navy for World War I service in February 1918 and later purchased. Placed in commission in mid-April as USS Chase S. Osborn (SP-1121), she performed Atlantic Fleet towing and target repair duties until mid-1919 and was assigned to the U.S. Naval Academy in December of that year. Given the hull number YT-41 in about July 1920, the tug was decommissioned in September 1920 and sold in August 1921.

This page features the only view we have concerning the tug Chase S. Osborn, which served as USS Chase S. Osborn (SP-1121, later YT-41) in 1918-1921.
