Dana (American Steam Lighter).
Previously named Catherine James.
Had U.S. Navy service in 1917-1919.

Dana, a 118 gross ton steam-powered harbor lighter, was built prior to World War I. Previously named Catherine James, she was employed commercially in the New York Harbor area until chartered by the Navy in November 1917. Retaining the name Dana, and not assigned a registry ID number, she served in the vicinity of New York City until May 1919, when she was returned to her owner.

This page features the only view we have concerning the steam lighter Dana (previously named Catherine James), which had U.S. Navy service in 1917-1919.

Probably in the New York Harbor area, prior to World War I.
Previously named Catherine James, this vessel was chartered by the Navy and put in service on 23 November 1917. She was returned to her owner on 21 May 1919. Dana had no Navy registry ID number.
