Derry (American Barge, 1894).
Was U.S. Navy barge Derry (ID # 1391) in 1917-1919

Derry, a 435 gross ton barge, was built in 1894 at South Rondout, New York, for commercial employment. In November 1917 she was acquired by the Navy, subsequently serving in the New York Harbor area as Derry (ID # 1391). The barge was returned to her owners, the Susquehanna Coal Company of New York City, in July 1919.

This page features the only view we have concerning the barge Derry, which served in the U.S. Navy as Derry (ID # 1391) in 1917-1919.

Derry

In port, probably when inspected for possible U.S. Navy service in 1917.
Built at South Roundout, New York, in 1894, Derry was owned by the Susquehanna Coal Company of New York City. She was acquired by the Navy on 24 November 1917 and placed in service as Derry (ID # 1391). She was returned to her owner on 24 July 1919.
