G.H. McNeal (U.S. Menhaden Fishing Boat, 1911).
Served in 1917-19 as USS G.H. McNeal (SP-312)

G.H. McNeal, a 244-gross-ton steam-powered menhaden fishing vessel, was built in 1911 at Millford, Delaware. She was purchased and placed in commission by the Navy in May 1917 as USS G.H. McNeal (SP-312). For the rest of World War I she operated out of Norfolk, Virginia, on patrol and minesweeping duties in the Virginia Capes area. The ship was decommissioned in May 1919 and sold in July of that year.

This page features the only views we have concerning the fishing vessel G.H. McNeal, which served as USS G.H. McNeal (SP-312) in 1917-1919.

In port, prior to her World War I era Naval service.
This "menhaden fisherman" was acquired by the Navy and placed in commission as USS G.H. McNeal (SP-312) on 26 May 1917. Stricken from the Navy list on 17 May 1919, she was sold on 10 July 1919.
