Legonia II (American Steam Yacht, 1909).
Also named Walucia and Lydonia.
Served as USS Legonia II (SP-399) in 1917-1921

Legonia II, a 168-foot steam yacht, was built at Wilmington, Delaware, in 1909. She was also named Walucia and Lydonia during her pre-World War I civilian career. The Navy purchased her in June 1917, placing her in commission as USS Legonia II (SP-399) later in that month. Throughout World War I, she served as a messenger, escort and guard ship in the Fifth Naval District, based at Norfolk, Virginia. She was also used as the flagship of the Naval District Commandant, a role that continued after the war ended in November 1918. USS Legonia II was decommissioned in August 1921 and sold at the end of September 1921.

This page features the only views we have concerning the steam yacht Legonia II, which served as USS Legonia II (SP-399) in 1917-1921.
