M.M. Davis (U.S. Fishing Vessel, 1912).
Served in 1917-19 as USS M.M. Davis (SP-314)

M.M. Davis, a 298 gross ton "Menhaden Fisherman" type fishing vessel, was built at Wilmington, Delaware in 1912. She was acquired by the Navy in April 1917 and placed in commission as USS M.M. Davis (SP-314). The ship was employed as a minesweeper in the vicinity of Norfolk, Virginia during the rest of World War I and for some months afterwards. Strickenin May 1919, she was sold at the beginning of July 1919. Her subsequent commercial service lasted until 1934.

This page features the only view we have concerning the fishing vessel M.M. Davis, which served as USS M.M. Davis (SP-314) in 1917-1919.

M.M. Davis
(American "Menhaden Fisherman" Trawler, 1912)

Photographed prior to World War I. She was acquired by the Navy and placed in commission on 7 April 1917 as USS M.M. Davis (SP-314). Following World War I service, she was stricken on 20 May 1919 and sold on 1 July 1919.

The original print is in Record Group 19-LCM in the U.S. National Archives.
