Myrtle (Motor Boat, 1915).
Served as USS Myrtle (ID # 3289) in 1918-19

Myrtle, a 21 gross ton (about 40.8-foot) motor boat, was built in 1915 at Elizabeth City, New Jersey, as a pleasure craft. She was leased by the Navy in October 1918 and placed in service as USS Myrtle (ID # 3289). For the next few months, she was assigned to patrol and dispatch duties in the vicinity of Norfolk, Virginia. Myrtle was returned to her owner in January 1919.

Note on Myrtle's number: As was normally the case for higher-numbered Section Patrol vessels, Myrtle's official data card cites her registry number as "ID No. 3289", rather than "S.P. 3289", as would have been a typical data card citation for lower-numbered vessels.

This page features our only views of the motor boat Myrtle, which was USS Myrtle (ID # 3289) in 1918-1919.
