In 1918 the steamship Santa Rosalia, a 5409 gross ton freighter built at Port Glasgow, Scotland, in 1911, was owned by the U.S. Steel Products Company of New York City. She was taken over by the Navy, under a U.S. Shipping Board charter, in May of that year and placed in commission as USS Santa Rosalia (SP-1503). During the rest of 1918 the ship completed two round-trip voyages from the East Coast to France. Between January and June 1919 she twice steamed from New York to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back again. USS Santa Rosalia was decommissioned in late June and returned to her owners.
This page features the only views we have concerning the steamship Santa Rosalia, which served as USS Santa Rosalia (ID # 1503) in 1918-1919.
