Scoter (American Motor Boat, 1916).
Served as USS Scoter (SP-20) in 1917-1919

Scoter, a 52' 9" motor pleasure boat, was built in 1916 by George Lawley & Son at Neponset, Massachusetts. Owned by J.L. Saltonstall of Beverly, Mass., she was enrolled in the Naval Coast Defense Reserve prior to U.S. entry into World War I, and was formally taken over by the Navy in April 1917. Commissioned as USS Scoter (SP-20), and subsequently employed in European waters, the craft was apparently disposed of overseas in 1919.

This page features the only views we have concerning the motor boat Scoter, which was USS Scoter (SP-20) in 1917-1919.
