Star # 1 (American Whaler, 1912).
Served as USS Star 1 (ID # 1351) in 1918-1919

Star # 1, a 196 gross ton steam-powered whaler, was built at Seattle, Washington, in 1912. She was chartered by the Navy in December 1917 and placed in commission in late March 1918 as USS Star 1 (ID # 1351). After service as a minesweeper in the Pacific Northwest region during and shortly after World War I, she was returned to her owner in February 1919.

Star # 1
(American Whaler, 1912)

Underway prior to her World War I Navy service.
This ship was enrolled and ordered delivered to the Navy on 24 December 1917. She was actually acquired on 19 January 1918, commissioned as USS Star 1 (ID # 1351) on 30 March 1918, and returned to her owner on 12 February 1919. Her sisters, Star # 2 and Star # 3, were not taken over by the Navy.
