Takana, a 68 gross ton wooden steam harbor tug, was built in 1915 at Solomons Island, Maryland. She was chartered by the Navy in July 1918 and operated as USS Takana (ID # 3039) in the New York Harbor area for the rest of World War I, and for several months after the Armistice. The tug was returned to her owner in June 1919.
This page features our only view of the harbor tug Takana, which was USS Takana (ID # 3039) in 1918-1919.
