Vesta (Dutch Freighter, 1907)

Steamship Vesta, a 1385 gross ton freighter, was built at Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1907. She operated commercially under the Dutch flag until March 1918, when she was seized by the U.S. Government at New York City. Though assigned the Navy registry ID # 2506, she remained in the custody of the U.S. Shipping Board and had no Naval service. Vesta was returned to her owners in 1919 or 1920 and returned to merchant service. She was removed from shipping registers in 1946.

This page features our only view of the Dutch freighter Vesta.
