Zoraya, a 129 gross ton steam yacht, was built in 1901 at Port Jefferson, New York. She was leased by the Navy in August 1917 and placed in commission in December of that year as USS Zoraya (SP-235). For the rest of World War I she performed patrol duties off New York and New Jersey, and was returned to her owner in February 1919.
This page features our only view of the steam yacht Zoraya, which served as USS Zoraya (SP-235) in 1917-1919.
