Tyr (Coastal Minelayer, 1959-1976).

Tyr, a 1250-ton coastal minelayer, was converted from the U.S. Navy minesweeper Sustain (MMC-2, formerly MSF-119) and transferred to Norway in October 1959. Renamed Tyr at that time, she served in the Norwegian Navy until disposed of in 1976.

Tyr

Is transferred to the Norwegian Navy following conversion from USS Sustain (MMC-2, formerly MSF-119), at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, South Carolina. The transfer took place on 1 October 1959.
The stern of Tyr's sister ship, Gor (converted from USS Strive, MMC-1, formerly MSF-117) is visible at the extreme right.
