HMS Vanguard (Battleship, 1910-1917)

HMS Vanguard, a 19,250-ton St. Vincent class battleship built at Barrow-in-Furness, England, was placed in commission at the beginning of March 1910. Assigned to the Home Fleet during the next four years, upon the outbreak of World War I in August 1914 she became part of the Grand Fleet and thereafter operated in the North Sea. She participated in the Battle of Jutland, at the end of May 1916, as part of the 4th Battle Squadron. While anchored at Scapa Flow on 9 July 1917, HMS Vanguard was destroyed by an accidental ammunition explosion, with the loss of more than 800 lives.

This page features all the views we have concerning the British battleship Vanguard of 1910.
