    The ship's two "macks", seen from forward while she was completing conversion to a weapons effects test ship at the Hunters' Point Naval Shipyard, San Francisco, California, circa October 1964.
    The original picture caption, released by 12th Naval District Office of Public Information, reads: "The two masts atop the DLG (guided missile frigate) deck houses are identical in appearance, but, like the deck houses themselves, the forward one is designed specifically for blast resistance."

    The original picture caption, released by 12th Naval District Office of Public Information, reads: "Several hundred of the measuring devices are placed throughout the ship. They are calibrated to measure the amount of stress the blasts impose on the ship and what, if any, damage was done."

    The original picture caption, released by 12th Naval District Office of Public Information, reads: "The measuring devices channel the desired data to shock mounted recorders deep in the ship. The shock mounting system ensures the continued recording of data during the tests."

    The original picture caption, released by 12th Naval District Office of Public Information, reads: "The shock mounted recorders are suspended on 'rubber rope' between the ceiling and deck. Regardless of the shock the ship receives, the equipment will float free insuring accurate recording."
