USS Atlantic (SP-1182), 1917-1919

USS Atlantic, a 58-foot motor boat, was built in 1903 at Morehead City, North Carolina. The Navy acquired her from the State of North Carolina in August 1917 and subsequently employed her for patrol duties in the Fifth Naval District, which included the inland and coastal waters of her home state. In January 1919, about two months after the Armistice ended World War I's fighting, Atlantic was decommissioned and returned to her owner.

This page features our only view of USS Atlantic (SP-1182).
