USS Arcturus (SP-182), 1917-1919.
Later renamed SP-182.
Originally the Civilian Motor Boat Arcturus (1911)

Arcturus, a 90-foot motor boat, was built in 1911 at Morris Heights, New York, as a pleasure craft. She was purchased by the Navy in May 1917, converted to a patrol boat and placed in commission in mid-August 1917 as Arcturus (SP-182). That was changed to SP-182 in April 1918 to avoid confusion with another vessel of the same name. Assigned to the Third Naval District, she operated in the New York City region for the rest of World War I and for almost six months thereafter. USS Arcturus was decommissioned in May 1919 and sold later in that year.

This page features all the views we have related to USS Arcturus (SP-182), USS SP-182 and the civilian motor boat Arcturus.
