USS Ardent (SP-680), 1917-1921

USS Ardent, a 106 gross ton patrol vessel and minesweeper, was built in 1902 at Greenport, Long Island, New York, as a steam-powered fishing vessel. She was purchased by the Navy in June 1917 and, after conversion for World War I service, placed in commission in mid-August. For the remainder of the war Ardent was used as a minesweeper and net tender off Newport, Rhode Island, and Block Island. She was later transferred to Groton, Connecticut, to support torpedo work for submarines. USS Ardent was decommissioned in early 1921 and sold in June of that year.

This page features all the views we have related to USS Ardent (SP-680).
