USS Bonita (SP-540), 1917-1918

USS Bonita, a 46-foot section patrol boat, was built before World War I at Mystic, Connecticut, as a civilian pleasure craft. Acquired by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission soon thereafter, for the rest of World War I she operated in Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, presumably on patrol and other security work. During the night of 25-26 November 1918, two weeks after the fighting had ended, Bonita was sunk in a collision with the fishing schooner Russell.

This page features all the views we have concerning USS Bonita (SP-540).
