USS Commodore Maury (SP-656), 1917-1918

USS Commodore Maury, 79 gross ton patrol vessel and mine sweeper, was built in 1894 by John Roach of Chester, Pennsylvania, as a fishing vessel. Owned by the Fish Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia, she was taken over by the Navy for World War I service and placed in commission in April 1917. After serving in the waters of the Fifth Naval District nearly until the end of the conflict, she was returned to her owner in late October 1918.

This page features the only view we have concerning USS Commodore Maury (SP-656).
