USS Flusser (Destroyer # 289, later DD-289), 1920-1930

USS Flusser, a 1190-ton Clemson class destroyer built at Squantum, Massachusetts, was commissioned in February 1920. She received the hull number DD-289 in July 1920. Her initial operatations were in the Caribbean and along the U.S. East Coast. In 1924-25, Flusser deployed to European waters. After returning home, she continued to serve in the western Atlantic until decommissioned in May 1930. The destroyer was sold in compliance with the London Naval Limitations Treaty in October 1930.

Flusser was named in honor of Charles Williamson Flusser (1832-1864), who was killed in action during the Civil War.

This page features views of or related to USS Flusser (DD-289).
