USS Frank Knox (DD-742), 1944-1971 --
Construction, 1944

USS Frank Knox was built by the Bath Iron Works, at Bath, Maine. Her keel was laid on 8 May 1944. She was launched on 17 September of that year, sponsored by Mrs. Frank Knox, widow of the late Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox. The ship was placed in commission on 11 December 1944.
