    In Nagasaki Harbor, Japan, in September 1945, a few weeks after the end of World War II.

    "Once again tender hands reached for the stretcher while a Navy Chief Hospitalman holds the bottle of plasma. Casualties from the front lines are picked up almost immediately after wounds have been inflicted and rushed to the Haven for hospitalization and further treatment."
