    U.S. Marines

Returning on board a U.S. Navy battleship, circa the early 1900s.
The photograph was printed at about that time, in color-tinted form, on a postal card published by the Hugh C. Leighton Company, Portland, Maine.
The original postal card's caption erroneously identifies the ship as USS Maine. She is actually USS Kearsarge (Battleship # 5) or her sister ship, USS Kentucky (Battleship # 6).
