USS Lyman K. Swenson (DD-729), 1944-1974 --
Views during and after "FRAM II" Modernization.

In 1960-61, Lyman K. Swenson received an extensive modernization at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, California, under the "Fleet Rehabilitation And Modernization" program. This "FRAM II" work, like that done to over thirty other Allen M. Sumner class destroyers, provided her with enhanced anti-submarine capabilities and extended her expected working lifespan. It also markedly changed her external configuration, giving her the appearance she retained to the end of her service.

This page features views of USS Lyman K. Swenson taken during and after her "FRAM II" modernization.
