USS Missouri (BB-63) in 1944

This page features overall views of USS Missouri during her first several months' active service, from her commissioning on 11 June 1944.

During most of this time, as she completed outfitting, made her shakedown cruise and transited to the Pacific, Missouri was painted in a colorful pattern camouflage scheme (Measure 32, Design 22D). This camouflage is seen to good effect in the photographs presented here.

While at San Francisco, California, in November-December 1944, Missouri was repainted into the plainer "two-tone" Measure 22 camouflage which she wore during the following year.

Additional 1944 overall views of Missouri will be found in the page USS Missouri, Gunfire and Gunnery, 1944.
