USS Manito II (SP-262), 1917-1920.
Previously civilian motor yacht Manito II (1912)

USS Manito II, a 23-ton motor pleasure boat, was built in 1912 at Nyack, New York, by the Hudson Yacht & Boat Company. She was purchased by the Navy and placed in commission in May 1917. Through World War I and beyond, she served as a patrol craft in the Charleston, South Carolina, area. USS Manito II was sold in March 1920.

Underway prior to World War I, possibly on the Hudson River, New York.
This pleasure craft was USS Manito II (SP-262) in 1917-1920.

USS Manito II (SP-262)


Photographed circa 1917-19.
Built in 1912 and originally named Manito, this motor boat was acquired by the Navy and commissioned on 10 May 1917. After World War I service, Manito II was sold on 25 March 1920.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
