USS Osprey II (SP-928), 1917-1918.
Originally the civilian pleasure boat Osprey II

The New York-built 80-foot motor boat Osprey II was acquired by the Navy in August 1917 and placed in commission the following November as USS Osprey II (SP-928). She performed World War I patrol duty in the New York Harbor area, but was reported in July 1918 as "having proved unsuitable". The craft was returned to her owner in late December 1918.

This page features all the views we have of USS Osprey II and of the civilian motor boat Osprey II.
