The 50-foot motor pleasure boat Rondo, built in Maryland in 1915, was acquired by the Navy in June 1917 for World War I service. Commissioned as USS Rondo (SP-90) in mid-November 1917, she was assigned to section patrol duty in the Florida Keys area. The craft was renamed SP-90 in April 1918. While awaiting sale, she was destroyed by a hurricane at Key West in September 1919.

Note: The Ships' Histories Branch of the Naval Historical Center holds one other view of the motor boat Rondo, taken prior to her Naval service.
This photograph was taken from off the vessel's port side while she was in port. Her hull and cabin are painted white, and a large awning covers most of her upper deck. The first few feet of her bow have been cropped out of the left side of the photo.
The photo is mounted on the "SP" data card for Rondo (SP-90).
