    Crewmen hoist the Battle Efficiency Pennant, which Spokane received during ceremonies at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, N.Y., on 2 September 1948.
    This pennant, commonly referred to as the "Meatball", was awarded the ship for her superior performance among ships of her type in 1947-1948.
