USS Sampson (Destroyer # 63, later DD-63), 1916-1936 --
Photographs of Scale Model

From at least the late 1960s the Navy Museum (previously known as the Naval Historical Display Center and the Navy Memorial Museum) in the Washington Navy Yard, D.C., has exhibited a scale model of USS Sampson. This model, in 1/4 inch to one foot scale, depicts the destroyer in her "as built" configuration. When photographed in about 1973-1974 the model was located on the west side of the museum's front half. Later in that decade the model was moved into the museum's then-new World War I exhibit, and remains there as of this writing (Summer 2006).

This page features all the photographs we have of a scale model of USS Sampson (Destroyer # 63, later DD-63).
