USS Santa Olivia, a 13,340-ton cargo ship, was built at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1918 for civilian owners. Taken over by the Navy upon completion and commissioned in July 1918, she was assigned to the Naval Overseas Transportation Service (NOTS). Prior to the World War I Armistice in November 1918, she made two round-trip voyages to Europe. Late in the year, Santa Olivia was reassigned to the Atlantic Fleet's Cruiser and Transport Force and converted to a troop transport. Between then and June 1919, she made four more round-trip voyages to Europe. USS Santa Olivia was decommissioned in July 1919 and returned to her owners. She had long subsequent civilian employment, under the names Santa Olivia, Kansan and Jackstar, and was not scrapped until 1955.
