USS Santa Elena (ID # 4052), 1919-1919.
Originally German S.S. Santa Elena (1907)

USS Santa Elena, a 7415 gross ton (12,573 tons displacement) transport, was built in 1907 Hamburg, Germany, as a German flag merchant steamship. Delivered to the U.S. Navy by the Germans in late April 1919, she was placed in commission at that time. During the next three months Santa Elena made two voyages from France to the United States, bringing home veterans of the First World War. In August 1919, about a month after completing the second trip, she was decommissioned and transferred to the British. The ship later became the French commercial steamer Linois.

This page features all the views we have concerning USS Santa Elena (ID # 4052).
