Secret, a 37-foot motor pleasure boat, was built at New Rochelle, New York, in 1916. She was leased by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission as USS Secret (SP-1063) as part of the early World War I effort to strengthen U.S. harbor defenses. For the rest of the conflict the craft served as a dispatch vessel for the Fifth Naval District and as a rescue boat at the Naval Air Station Anacostia, D.C. She was returned to her owner in late December 1918.
This page features all the views we have of USS Secret (SP-1063) and of the civilian motor boat Secret.
