USS Yarrow (SP-1010), 1917-1919.
Previously the civilian motor boat Yarrow (1913)
Yarrow, a 65-foot motor pleasure boat, was built in
1913 by Kargard of Chicago, Illinois. She was placed in commission
as USS Yarrow (SP-1010) in late July 1917, a month before
she was formally taken over. Except when laid up during the winter
of 1917-1918, she operated on Lake Michigan for the rest of World
War I. Yarrow was returned to her owner, K.D. Clark of
Chicago, in March 1919.

Yarrow (American Motor Boat, 1913)
Underway on the Great Lakes, prior to World War I.
This pleasure craft was placed in commission as USS Yarrow
(SP-1010) on 27 July 1917 and served on Lake Michigan during
the First World War. She was returned to her owner on 7 March
1919.

Underway on Lake Michigan during World War I.
Built at Chicago, Illinois, in 1913, the pleasure craft Yarrow
was placed in commission by the Navy as USS Yarrow on
27 July 1917 and formally acquired a month later, on 27 August.
She was returned to her owner on 7 March 1919.
The original photograph is in Record Group 19-LCM in the National
Archives.
