Preserving the MemoriesFriends
and fans remember Kysers enthusiastic leadership, work
ethic and sense of humor. "Kyser represents the
old-fashioned American philosophy that hard work will bring
you success faster than anything else," his friend,
Chapel Hill
Newspaper Editor Orville Campbell,
wrote in 1982. "He would also be the first to admit that a
mans cup runneth over when he can participate in two
successful careers in a lifetime, one in the entertainment
business and another to help spread the teachings of the
word of God." Despite
the warmest personal memories Kysers friends and
family hold dear, no biography of him exists in print or in
film. Several efforts have recently been set into motion to
preserve those memories. Daughter Kimberly is producing a
documentary film, "Kay Kyser: A Life in Motion," in
association with the N.C. Museum of Art. And Georgia is
writing her own memoirs, which will shed some light on the
more personal aspects of her time with Kyser. "He was a natural-born leader, and had a very dynamic personality," says Georgia, who still lives in their old house in Chapel Hill. "He was such a wonderful spirit and such fun to be around." | |
